Prometheus Blue
A Near-Future International Thriller

In 2025, the world learns that a wandering star is certain to destroy the Earth in 700 years. Three opposing forces driven by politics, science and religion, clash in a desperate struggle to shape humanity’s destiny.
In 2025, Dr. Marissa Blake discovers that the Sun and all the inner planets will be destroyed in 700 years by an approaching sun-sized stellar fragment. She sees no credible path to Earth’s salvation. This begins the story of humanity’s evolution over the centuries as its end approaches.
Hard-charging US President Amanda Lexington is singularly focused on building her legacy as humanity’s savior. Bolstered by her sky-high polls, Lexington assembles a risky coalition of existing and aspiring nuclear states to build a multi-million-fold increase to Earth’s nuclear destructive capability in a high-stakes gamble to destroy the seemingly indestructible.
However, dark forces emerge to drive Lexington’s plan towards failure, condemning our civilization to living out its final centuries in war, environmental toxicity and ultimately oblivion.
But Marissa Blake has a plan. Can her voice of science and reason lead humanity to a solution?
While a few comparable works come to mind (Arthur C. Clarke’s Songs of Distant Earth, Jasper T. Scott’s 2018 Rogue Star), all depict alien invasion, time travel, a post-apocalyptic world or Earth’s immediate destruction. In contrast, PROMETHEUS BLUE begins the timeline of humanity’s struggles over centuries leading to Earth’s certain destruction. It will appeal to fans of Andy Weir and Arthur C. Clarke for hard science, strong characters and human adventure.
